Signs Your Water Heater Needs Maintenance

It is important to keep up with the maintenance of you water heater. There are several signs that indicate your water heater needs maintenance. One indication that a water heater needs maintenance is a leaking tank. If your water heater has a leaking tank it is important to turn off the water heater completely and drain out all the water before doing maintenance on the heater.

Another indication that it may be time for a new water heater is a constant reoccurrence of not having water that is hot available in your home. If your water heater at home is not able to produce hot water than maintenance should be looked it. If this occurs on a regular basis then either the bottom or top part of the water heater may need to be replaced.

Having rusty water in your home can be another indication that it is time to have maintenance on your water heater. If rusty color tinted water is coming out of your faucet this is a sign that your water heater in the home may not be working properly. Rusty water coming out of your faucet can also be an indication that sediment has begun to build up towards the bottom of the water heater. Therefore maintenance and proper cleaning may be needed in order to eliminate this household problem.

Also if water in your home is not coming out as quickly as it normally does this may be an indication that your water heater needs maintenance. However this may mean that you will just have to replace the top valves of the water heater in order to get it to work properly again. If water does not come out smoothly then something could be plugging up your heater and gradually causing damage that will need maintenance.

Finally any inconsistencies in the temperature of your water can be an indication that it is time to have maintenance done on your water heater. Unusual smells coming from your water, popping noises, or cracking can be an indication that water heater maintenance needs to be done.
